A query related to minimum contribution to keep PPF active

A week back I have opened PPF account. But I have a confusion related to the year of contribution. I know that minimum I need to contribute Rs. 500 in to PPF account in a year. Is this year a financial year or a calendar year and how many contributions I can make in one year?

PPF considers financial year beginning 1st April to 31st March as their year of contribution. So between these dates and day you can contribute minimum amount in your PPF account to keep it active. Maximum 12 contributions are allowed in a year.
