I was investing in fixed deposit for 5 years. On bank manager’s suggestion, I tried to create it online. But there was a statement as per which pre-mature withdrawal of e-TDR/ e-STDR under tax saving scheme was not allowed in lock-in period. I enquired it from bank manager. He said that same goes for FD created through branch. I wonder if I need money during the lock-in period, then what I will do. Is the bank manager correct?

Yes, the bank manager is absolutely right. A person cannot break the FD created under tax saver scheme during the lock-in period.
