Do I fall in smoker’s category for term insurance policy

I am interested in getting term policy of 50 lakhs from LIC. I was smoker and have quit smoking month ago. Which field should I tick ? smoker or non-smoker? If I would have been a non-smoker at the time of taking policy and start smoking later, then what will be its impact on policy?

You will fall in smoker’s category. A non-smoker is one who has never actively smoked in his life. If a non-smoker starts smoking after getting the policy, then his policy will remain intact. However, it may or may not impact at the time of claim settlement.
