Looking for cheaper way of maintaining demat account

I have savings account with SBI and a demat account with Karvy for last 5 years. There is not much of trading except the purchases of shares that I did 5 years ago. I intend to hold these stocks for quite a long time. But the problem is pinching annual expenses of Rs. 5,000 for maintaining demat account. Is there a less costly way of maintaining demat?

Since you already have a savings account with SBI, you can open a demat account with them. There is a one time fee of Rs. 850 and annual maintenance charges of Rs. 500.
