    Margin for buying or selling on Nifty futures is around 70-75k. It is actually 10.1%of the value of contract.

    Margins are required in two forms one is SPAN margin and other is Exposure margin. Now brokers are required to report collection of these margins from clients everyday. failing to collect such margin or any shortfall may attract penalty upto 5% per day.
