Can I port Health insurance

I am having a health insurance from hdfc ergo from last few years. Now someone from Religare has approached me. Just need to Know if
1. Can I port my Health insurance in between or it can happen only on renewal
2. Will I continue to get the benefits in terms of initial years

I think it can happen only on renewal, still I am not sure, you can get in touch with your insurance agent or company.
