In a jewellery shop, when I gave my credit card to the shopkeeper, he said if I pay using card then 2.5% will be charged extra. I have shopped many times using credit card but I have never paid any extra amount. My question is ? is it legal for a shopkeeper to charge like this?
It is not a right practice. On every swipe, shopkeepers have to pay transaction fee. Thus they get a lesser amount than what customers pay to them. In order to cover this reduction, they ask their customers to pay extra on making payment through card.
