Without consulting can CIBIL make changes in their database

There is an erroneous data on my credit report. Is it possible that CIBIL can make changes in people’s data on their own without consulting the relevant institution or person?

CIBIL acts as a depository of data periodically sent to it by various institutions. Hence, it cannot make any changes in data without being directed to do it. If there is an erroneous information in your credit report then you can file a dispute with CIBIL on https://www.cibil.com/consumer-dispute-resolution. They will coordinate on your behalf with the respective institution and will update you with the information/ response received from them.
