Help me in step by step selecting a MF

I am first time investor in mutual funds and I don’t know anything on the selection procedure of mutual funds. Please help me on this. Will it be right to invest in mutual funds listed as top 5 SIPs in Economic Wealth? My personal choice is Franklin India Blue Chip and ICICI Pru Focused Blue Chip Equity Fund. Please comment on them as well.
