My father is a senior citizen. Interest from fixed deposits is the only source of income for him. As his income does not fall in tax bracket, he was filling income tax return for last 5-6 years. This year, bank has deducted TDS on his fixed deposit interest, which can now be claimed only by filling income tax return. Should we file his ITR after a gap of 6 years or let the claim go?

Go ahead with the return. And from next time onwards, don’t forget to submit form 15H in the month of April for all his FDs.
