Where should I invest my Rs. 4 lakhs

I have Rs. 4 lakhs to be invested in some safe investment alternative. Basically I am looking for monthly income. Since I am novice in matters related to financial world, I really do not understand where to invest. At this stage I cannot even take risk. Please suggest me something.

Since you want to play safe, I will suggest you to go for monthly income scheme of post office but it will block your funds for next 6 years. As these days, banks offer FD with monthly payout option, you can also think of investing your money there.
