Will I need to bear service tax on purchasing flat

I have booked a flat with Omaxe in Greater Noida. At the time of booking, builder has mentioned it clearly that the purchaser will have to bear the service tax charges. Is the builder right in demanding this tax from purchasers? Will this service tax be deposited with the builder or with some other organization?

Yes, the builder is right. You will have to bear the service tax charges. Even though you pay the tax to builder, the amount will not remain with the builder. It will be the builder’s responsibility to deposit the amount with government.
